The Tropics Foundation was thrilled to welcome Rick Peyser to its Board of Directors this April, 2023. In addition to being Senior Advisor at Food4Farmers, Rick has held many distinguished leadership roles in the agriculture and coffee sectors. Between 2014 - 2022, Rick managed Lutheran World Relief’s (LWR) coffee and cocoa relationships. Prior to this, Rick led Keurig Green Mountain’s Supply Chain Community Outreach efforts, where he was employed for close to 27 years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Rick served as President of the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), the world’s largest coffee trade association. He spent 6 years as a Board Member of the Fairtrade Labeling Organizations International (FLO), another 6 years as on the Root Capital Board of Directors , and currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Food4Farmers, The Coffee Trust, Project Alianza, and New Hampton School. Rick co-authored “Brewing Change: Behind the Bean at Green Mountain Coffee Roasters” (2012), and is a Gund Global Affiliate at the University of Vermont’s Gund Institute for Environment.
