A new cohort of 34 graduate students from 13 Latin American and Caribbean countries has begun their academic journey at CATIE (Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center). Their focus: sustainable agroforestry, climate change, and tropical forest management.
The Tropical Agricultural Research and Higher Education Center (CATIE) has reached a new milestone in agricultural biodiversity conservation with its largest seed shipment to the Global Seed Vault, located in Svalbard, Norway. This crucial effort helps protect food security in Costa Rica and the region, ensuring the preservation of key crops against climate change, natural disasters, and genetic losses.
The Tropics Foundation is pleased to support the IX Wallace Scientific Conference 2025, hosted by CATIE. This prestigious event will bring together international experts to explore the fundamental connections between soil, plant, animal and human health in agroforestry and livestock systems, key elements for sustainable development in the tropics and subtropics.
